Seeking Research for the Prevention of Chronic Disease by Targeting Microbial Pathogens

Header

A world-leading manufacturer of vaccines is seeking research exploring the link between viral/ bacterial infection/colonisation and subsequent chronic disorders. The team is interested in identifying validated links between a given infectious agent and a chronic disease, potential therapeutic targets, as well as the development of novel treatments targeting the microbial pathogens.

Approaches of Interest:

  • Research relating to a range of chronic diseasesincluding heart disease, stroke, diabetes, rare chronic diseases, arthritis and neurodegenerative disorders. Chronic conditions are considered in scope provided that there is a validated link with bacterial or viral infection
  • The use of biological approaches to prevent or reduce chronic disease, including vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (mAb), phage genome editing, etc

Out of scope:

  • Approaches based on small molecules, enzyme therapy, gene therapy or cell therapy are excluded from this campaign

Developmental Stages of Interest:

  • Opportunities at basic research phase to late‑stage clinical trial are within scope, provided there is proof‑of‑concept validation of the link between infectious agent and a chronic disorder
  • Opportunities at Phase 4 epidemiological studies are also of interest
  • Opportunities with in vivo validation (both animal and human‑based data) are of highest interest, although opportunities with compelling in vitro or ex vivo validation will still be considered

Submission Information:

Submission of one page, 200-300 word briefs are encouraged, along with any optional supplementary information e.g., relevant publications and patents. In submitting to this campaign, you confirm that your submission contains only non-confidential information.
