Wörwag Pharma is seeking novel research and technological developments related to the role of vitamin D in human health, its application in medical therapy and the prevention and treatment of deficiency. The team has a strong interest in developing ground-breaking solutions with novel therapeutic approaches for osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, age-related muscle diseases, immunity, obesity and diabetes.

Approaches of Interest:

  • Innovations related to vitamin D, its manifold metabolites or molecular analogues 
  • Novel combinations of vitamin D with additional compounds
  • Pharmacological approaches that improve vitamin D metabolism and/or the mode of action
  • Formulation systems that improve the stability/shelf life and bioavailability of vitamin D
  • Innovative drug delivery systems suitable for vitamin D supplementation (e.g. faster effect)
  • Diagnostic tools and digital solutions: 
    • measurement of physiological concentrations of vitamin D (e.g. 25(OH)D3), or novel biomarkers linked to vitamin D deficiency or vitamin D-related conditions 
    • self-diagnostic tools for end users/patients
    • unique approaches for prevention and treatment therapies of vitamin D deficiency

Developmental Stages of Interest:

  • Research and technological developments from at least preclinical stage are within scope, however there is a preference for proof of efficacy and safety in humans
  • Opportunities will be prioritised based on expected impact and time-to-market

Out of Scope:

  • Vitamin D for use in food fortification
  • Research related to lifestyle/wellbeing, cancer, rare diseases, Alzheimer’s, skin health and child-related conditions

Intellectual property status of the research should be included where relevant. In submitting to this campaign, you confirm that your submission contains only non-confidential information. 

Wörwag Pharma is open to a range of collaboration scenarios, with the most appropriate outcome being decided on a case-by-case basis. The team is particularly interested in the co-development and/or licensing of existing, validated research or intellectual property under mutually agreed terms and conditions that funnel into the development of innovative products and services. Wörwag Pharma seeks exclusivity rights regarding the commercial exploitation of such technologies.
