Header

Johnson & Johnson Innovation, a global consumer goods and pharmaceutical company with a history of successful academic collaborations, is seeking innovative solutions to create sustainable premium packaging. They are interested in techniques to give plastic packaging a metallic lustre, as well as sustainable methods of producing attractive packaging for premium cosmetics and other consumer goods

Approaches of Interest

  • Coating techniques to provide a metallic lustre to existing plastic packaging products are of interest, and Johnson & Johnson Innovation welcomes submissions from other industries that could be applied to consumer goods packaging
  • Nanotechnology treatments to the surface of packaging materials
  • Novel materials for packaging with a premium quality appearance and sustainable manufacturing methods are also within scope
  • Approaches must be suitable for use in food contact so that the products could be recyclable

Out of Scope

  • Coatings that apply a darker colour as these can render a product non‑recyclable
  • Hazardous materials

Stage of Development

  • Johnson & Johnson Innovation is open to collaborating on opportunities at any stage of development for this campaign

Submission Information

Submission of one page, 200-300 word brief is encouraged, along with any optional supplementary information (e.g., relevant publications and patents). In submitting to this campaign, you confirm that your submission contains only non-confidential information.

Opportunity for Collaboration

Johnson & Johnson Innovation is open to a range of collaboration types, with the most appropriate outcome determined on a case-by-case basis. They are interested in developing new technologies in collaboration with early-stage opportunities or setting up licensing or supply agreements for later stage opportunities.
