A multinational consumer goods company is seeking novel condom materials and enhancements to existing polymers, with a focus on improving key performance attributes such as tensile strengthpuncture resistance, low modulus (softer material) and heat transfer. Specifically, the team is interested in engaging with experts in material science, polymer chemistry, and elastomers to help co-develop next generation condom materials.

Approaches of Interest:

  • Our client is interested in researchers with expertise in rubber applications, including condoms, gloves, and tyres
  • Teams with experience working with polymers such as natural rubber latex, polyisoprene, polyurethane, and nitrile are of particular interest—especially those capable of enhancing key performance parameters such as tensile strength, thinness, heat transfer, modulus, and surface modifications of materials such as hydrophilic coatings
  • The client is also interested in innovative polymer solutions or manufacturing technologies that surpass current industry standards and address unmet consumer needs in condom design, including safety, comfort, and sensation

Developmental Stages of Interest:

Novel developments/proof of concepts which show promise as future solutions are of interest, although there is a preference for opportunities closer to market.
